Prayer cards are also known as make your own prayer cards or memorial cards. Prayer cards originate from the Catholic faith and are distributed at funerals to those in attendance. They are usually about the size of a trading card measuring 2.5 x 4.25 inches and fit 8 cards to 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper (see below). This is why they are also known as 8-up funeral prayer cards. Traditionally, they depict a religious scene or a saint, but with the advancement of technology, funeral prayer cards usually have a photo of the person being commemorated with a prayer or scripture verse printed on the back.
